First Year Work

I thought it was about time I put some images of my artwork on here.

Purple Daisies II

This is 'Purple Daisies' originally inspred by Art Nouveau styled flowers but developed using various media. This was painted on an aluminium panel 2ft x 2ft square using acrylic, airbrushing through stencils I had cut out in acetate from photographs I'd taken. Gold leaf was applied with paste that I had painted on with a brush and finally, encaustic wax was drawn on using a hot stylus pen. It was built up layer on layer and has become quite textural. This was my first major module I undertook in my first year on the course.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog, I am a part-time art student at college, I am currently doing a Foundation Degree in Contemporary Art Practice, however I am taking a year off from this due to personal reasons but still carrying on with my work.

As a mixed media artist, I like to create spontaneous, bright and colourful pieces usually on aluminium. Inspired by family life, I like to focus on the positive side of life and portray this in my work using a wide range of techniques including screen printing, collage, image transfer and painting.
